Pier 2
NOT ACCESSIBLE - FUTURE CONSTRUCTION
Pier 2 is approximately 5 acres, and will feature active recreation courts for basketball, handball, and bocce, as well as a full size in-line skating rink, swings, picnic tables, restrooms and a small concession. Portions of the original storage shed structure were selectively retained to provide shading and rain shelter. Reuse of this structure is consistent with park’s commitment to sustainability and continuity of industrial heritage of site and also help to buffer the wind.
A spiral pool at the Pier 2 uplands creates a soft edge and allows visitors direct access to the water. At high tide, the river fills the pool's edge. At low tide, the water recedes from the tidal pool, leaving behind evidence of the natural habitat living along the shoreline. Pier 2 will also include a boat ramp for non-motorized craft to embark and land.
