They care for 1,200 monuments and 22 historic house museums and look after 600,000 street trees, and two million more in parks. NYC Parks & Recreation is New York City's principal providers of recreational and athletic facilities and programs. They are home to free concerts, world-class sports events and cultural festivals.
Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy
For almost 20 years, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy has been dedicated to realizing a world-class waterfront park for Brooklyn. The Conservancy includes membership of over 60 organizations, a professional staff and an accomplished Board. The Conservancy’s active promotion of the park project has brought together residents, government, and local supporters with the mutual goal to create New York’s next great park. The Conservancy provides outstanding public programming and educational events for visitors and will continue to enrich visitor experiences as Brooklyn Bridge Park grows.
Jane's Carousel
Jane's Carousel is a beautifully restored historic Carousel made by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1922. It is a classic 3-row machine with 48 exquisitely carved horses, and 2 superb chariots. The carousel is located in the Empire Fulton Ferry portion of the park in DUMBO, where it is magically set on the East River, between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. The Carousel is housed in a spectacular Pavilion designed by Pritzker Prize winning French architect Jean Nouvel. Jane's Carousel will delight children, as well as visitors from around the world, for many generations to come. The Carousel and the Nouvel commissioned Pavilion are a gift from the Walentas family to the people of the City of New York.
