Brooklyn Bridge Park Honored by the Municipal Art Society

The entire Brooklyn Bridge Park team behind the recent openings of Piers 1 and 6 received an annual award from MAS with the following citation:

The Municipal Art Society salutes the forces behind the expansion of Brooklyn Bridge Park with the opening of Piers 1 and 6:  The Empire State Development Corporation, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation. We congratulate them for this monumental effort, giving all New Yorkers a fun-filled Pier 6 and a beautifully landscaped Pier 1. These thirteen new acres have set the bar very high for all future city parks.

The Municipal Art Society writes: "Last Wednesday, June 23, MAS held its 2010 Annual Meeting, where it announced the winners of its 39th Annual Awards. The ceremony, held at the Tobacco Warehouse in DUMBO, celebrated the individuals, organizations, places, and events that contribute to the incredible nature of New York City.  Early attendees were treated to tours of the recently unveiled portions of the Brooklyn Bridge Park."
